Clinical Activities carried out at IEO

Regarding clinical activity, professor Pravettoni is mainly involved in clinical cases supervision, and definition of psychological treatment plans and outcome assessment.

Research Activities carried out at IEO

Scientific interests are mainly related to the fields of applied cognitive psychology and health psychology with a particular attention to medical decision making and patient empowerment. At the IEO professor Pravettoni is actually performing her research activity in the P-Medicine project whose aim is to create a decision making tool for the improvement of physician-patient interaction. Such tool will be implemented taking into account the patient personal needs, expectations and values implicated in the medical decision making process. Professor Pravettoni is also collaborating with the Cosmos team to define cognitive and psychological profiles of heavy smokers in order to understand the mechanisms that bring them to make unhealthy behaviours.

Passed Clinical and Research Activities

Research activities are mainly focused on two different areas: decision making and health psychology.
Decision making: studies performed in this field investigate how individuals judgments and evaluations vary in respect of specific contextual factors (choice sets) and personality traits (decisional style). In particular, recent studies have been focused on: medical decision making processes, error prevention strategies, cognitive strategies to improve the decision making abilities in patients and health care providers.
Health psychology: researches in the health psychology field are aimed to make individuals active and responsible agents of their own well-being, increasing their empowerment.

Professor Pravettoni is author of many scientific publications and numerous monographs and edited books. (PubMed).

Congresses

Other than numerous participations to international congresses as invited speaker, professor Pravettoni recently organized the conference: “MindSet, the mind grows up, you decide, the world changes” at the University of Milan.
