Impact Factor

The qualitative and quantitative evaluation of scientific production is a need that is felt throughout the world of research. From researchers looking for sources for their works to committees that need to distribute funds, managers who must evaluate a candidate and students who simply want to read an article: each player in the field of research encounters the problem of evaluating the importance of a scientific work.
The most renowned and commonly used instrument within the scientific community is known as the Impact factor (IF).
The Impact Factor is a quantitative instrument that makes it possible to evaluate scientific journals and the articles that are published in them. The IF calculation is based on the assumption that the number of times an article is cited is directly proportional to its circulation, and the circulation of an article within the scientific community essentially represents its quality.
The Impact Factor reflects the number of times the name of the publishing organisation is cited as a reference in the international literature.
