RADAR - News, Current Events, and Links Upcoming meetings of potential interest: The Society of Nuclear Medicine meeting in Toronto in 2005 will have Continuing Education sessions on "Advances in Patient-Specific Dosimetry: Part 1 - Voxel-Based Anatomic Models and Part 2 - Tools for Patient Dose Assessment". In addition, a special session will be held entitled "Radiation Risk Coefficients – Current State of Knowledge and Implications for Radionuclide Therapy and Patient Risk". The next international symposium on radiopharmaceutical dosimetry will be held as part of the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, in Seoul, Korea in 2006. The meeting will mostly follow the format of the 2004 EANM congress. Past Meetings The 1st International Symposium on Radionuclide Therapy and Dosimetry was held in conjunction with the annual EANM congress in Helsinki, Finland, September 04 - 08, 2004. The format of the meeting has evolved from a series of seven interesting and important Radiopharmaceutical and dosimetry symposia held approximately every 5 years since 1970, with distribution of published proceedings. The last meeting (“7th International Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry Symposium”) was held in Nashville, TN, USA in 2002. As a separate track within the EANM congress this symposium brought together all disciplines concerned with Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry and Radionuclide Therapy discussion. Proceedings are currently being published in Cancer Biotherapy and Radiopharmaceuticals. The Seventh International Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry Symposium was held in Nashville, TN, USA, April 17-19, 2002. Six of these interesting and important meetings have been held previously, approximately every 5 years since 1970, with distribution of published proceedings which have enjoyed wide use and citation in the literature. Most previous meetings were held in Oak Ridge, TN, and were organized by the Radiation Internal Dose Information Center. Despite the decline in funding and staffing for this center, it was decided that this important symposium series should continue. Due in large part to recent increases in the use of radiopharmaceuticals in therapeutic applications, interest in the international community in this subject area has been such that the series will not only continue, but will increase in frequency. The plan now is for the symposium to be held approximately every 2 years, alternating between a US and European site.
