The Procreation and Fertility Unit (PFU) takes care of young patients affected by any type of cancer with specific attention to fertility, contraception and pregnancy issues.
The gynecologists of the PFU have broad experience in dealing with oncological patients and know how to help them in their treatment path. The continuous collaboration with specialists from other IEO Divisions and Clinical Units allows the best care for young patients both in the oncological and in the fertility area.
Patients under 40s have specific needs that require a global approach in order to minimize the treatment side effects.
Each patient is invited to a specific counselling on Procreation and Fertility before and after the oncological treatment, together with our procreation and maternity specialists whenever necessary.
In the delicate situation of cancer diagnosed during pregnancy a "fast track lane" in specialized centers with optimal oncological obstetrical and perineatological care is activated to ensure the best chance for the mother and her baby.
