HEALTHCARE SERVICE ACCESS during the COVID-19 emergency

Covid-19 emergency: information for patients

IEO is continuing to provide the scheduled services for patients needing an oncological diagnosis (pathology under investigation) and for patients that must receive treatment. Furthermore, follow-up appointments have now resumed (i.e. scheduled check-ups for illnesses that have already been treated).

We would like to inform you that in order to enter the hospital it is mandatory that certain rules of behaviour are followed:

1)      we invite you to answer the questionnaire that will be sent to you and to answer any questions by members of staff to assess your suitability to visit our Institute, because the service could be delayed if you:

  • have one of the symptoms of Covid-19
  • have had a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of Covid-19
  • have entered into contact with a suspect or confirmed case of Covid-19

2)      to avoid groups of people forming, we invite you to attend alone. Access to IEO with a escort will be allowed only if the patient is not self-sufficient, or under specific request received by IEO personnel.

3)      please arrive at IEO just before the appointment with a surgical or FFP/N95 mask without valve (for yourself and the person accompanying you if present)

4)      please comply with the suggested precautionary measures to limit the spread of the disease:

  • wash your hands frequently with soap for at least 20 seconds
  • do not touch your face
  • avoid crowded places and close contact by keeping at least one metre of distance between people
  • only leave your home for essential needs

IEO, in line with regional and national provisions to protect patients, has limited visitors' access to inpatient areas.
