Research in my group deals with the structural and functional characterization of mechanisms underlying fundamental biological processes, with a particular emphasis on mitotic spindle orientation and asymmetric stem cell divisions. Our long-term interest is to build accurate molecular models of how mitotic processes are executed, in order to understand how they become deregulated under pathological conditions. To obtain molecular information, we employ a multi-disciplinary approach involving forefront methods of structural biology (mainly X-ray crystallography), biochemistry, biophysics, and cell biology.
